The Israelites go from bad to worse. A mother who is doubtful but obedient to a mother who consecrates her silver to make an idol for her son. A judge who indulges in every kind of self-focused enjoyment, who looks like any other heathen until, in his weakness, he turns to God to help destroy the Philistines. A Levite who agrees to being a priest for an idol rather than the living God. Truly Israel has no king at this time.
