Joshua 1-6

1. How is the destination of the Israelites affected by new leadership? What makes the transition work?

2. What is the extent of God's reputation?

3. How does God help the Israelites' destination become a reality? What different "players" does he use?

  1. God's reputation goes back to the crossing of the Red Sea, 40 years before. It seems like the non-Israelites have more confidence/fear of God's abilities than the Israelites themselves. It is God who leads his people, not Moses or Joshua or anyone else, so the transition to Joshua goes smoothly--God ensures his success through miracles, providence, and angelic intervention.
