Only God could manage to get 600,000 Israelite slaves out of Egypt en masse. Both the Egyptians and the Israelites understand the extent of God's power as a result of this incident. It seems like a battle between God and Pharaoh, but God wins hands down and Egypt is sacrificed by Pharaoh (against his advisors wishes) as a result. Hard to believe how quickly the Israelites forget and want to go back to Egypt, but God keeps them moving back toward Israel.
