Genesis 43-50

1. How do you see God's purposes working out as Genesis draws to a close?

2. What clues are there that Egypt is not the final destination for God's people?

3. What does Israel's family learn about God?

  1. Joseph acts as a great spokesperson for God's purposes. Without him, we might still be wondering what God was doing all that time. But with him, we see God's overarching purposes despite (and through) people's actions. I think we also see what a devastating effect sin has on people--Joseph's brothers are still feeling guilty for their actions so many years later. Although Egypt is a source of provision, there's still a priority on Israel as a destination as indicated by the burial wishes. The story is far from over!
