Nehemiah 8-13

1. As the people came together in Jerusalem, what different elements were part of their celebration?

2. What effect did the Word of God have on the people?

3. What was necessary to keep the people following God's ways?

4. How do you regard Nehemiah's role in all of this; whose favor was he most concerned about?

  1. The people remembered God's acts of faithfulness, they praised and worshipped him, they confessed their sins, they gave gifts and sacrifices to the temple and to others in need. But it didn't take long for some to begin compromising the law. It was necessary for those who were trustworthy to remind people what God required of them. Nehemiah took this role seriously, even after returning to Persia for a time, for he was concerned about his accounting before God, not men.
