Malachi 1-4

1. What evidence do you see in Malachi that Nehemiah's influence was short-lived?

2. Who are God's criticisms mostly aimed at?

3. What sort of sacrifice and worship does God require of us today?

4. What would he find today as he scrutinizes our offerings?

  1. God sees the root of Israel's problems in the hearts of the people, particularly the priests. They follow the letter of the law, but very half-heartedly because they must, not because they honor God. It's scary to think what he might say today. Our sacrifices are often just as half-hearted I think-done for show or because we think we ought, rather than out of the depth of love that God has shown us.
