Galatians 1-6

1. What is the main problem Paul is addressing in his letter to the Galatians?

2. How does the gospel of Christ change the understanding of following the law?

3. What does it mean to be a new creation?

4. How can believers confuse law and freedom in Christ today?

  1. The Galatians faced the issue of following the law versus understanding grace, a struggle that continues to plague us throughout the centuries. Christ fulfilled the law himself, dying for all of the law that we cannot keep ourselves, giving us freedom to live according to his grace. Yet we still have a tendency, as the Galatians did, to return to the law, to things we think we have to do to please God, instead of living as his children, saved by grace. The mentality of a slave vs. a son characterizes this attitude in any age, which we need to continually be aware of and flee from.
