The law points out our weaknesses, helping us to realize that apart from Christ we could never keep the demands of the law. But because Christ fulfills the law on our behalf, we are freed from its constraints. Not that we can freely sin instead, but we have the freedom to choose God's ways instead of being chained down to our old natures. It's still a huge struggle though. I'm thankful for the honesty with which Paul describes the war between the old and new natures.
