Paul leaves Timothy in Ephesus to lead the church there. We have to remember that it was written with particular circumstances in mind, but much of what Paul says is applicable to all churches at all times--thoughts on leadership, false teaching, worship, relationships among people, etc. Legalism, favoritism, greed, and idolatry are some of the things that could trip people up, both then and now.
