1 Samuel 20-25

1. As you read through the various events in these chapters, what distinguishes personal goals from God's goals?

2. How does vengeance influence what goes on? What helps to turn vengeance aside?

3. Through what means does God continue to carry his people along toward his destination for them?

  1. Jealousy, false expectations, anger, power-seeking that lead to a desire for vengeance all have the stench of death to them, but in a way that would not ultimately bring any kind of satisfaction to the person committing them. Saul agains David, David against Nabal, Doeg against the priests of Nob are all evidence of this. God uses his spirit and relationships among people to turn individuals to accomplish his goals rather than theirs.
